Sphere is a conversational performance for two men and a microphone, rooted in acrobatic partnering. In it, Aigars and Nauris discuss politics, cryptocurrency, sports, contemporary dance, and the crisis of masculinity. They make statements, argue, challenge each other, interrupt, switch roles, and compete for attention. Because talking about something is easier than talking to each other.

The movement language explores the “controlled violence” often present in relationships between men, which sometimes seems to be the only socially accepted expression of physical intimacy between them. Through partnering techniques, the performance gradually reveals a search for support and a desire to care for one another in a world that demands results and unquestioning efficiency.

Both artists are avid listeners of long-form online conversations, and their interest in podcast culture became the starting point for the performance. A podcast created during the research process was initially intended only for the creative team, but gradually developed into an essential part of the work.

Throughout the creative process, the exploration of male intimacy, attention, and shame connects to a broader question of the “manosphere”: a collection of misogynistic beliefs that blame feminism for men's experiences of alienation, loneliness, and resentment.
